Some of you may remember Khadijah from her family mini session last spring. Well I have been crushing on Khadijah’s business Babycakes Couture ever since I saw the fabulous things she can do with cupcakes and cake pops.
Khadijah approached me back in February for head shots for the launch of her new website and she was open to any ideas I had about how to approach the shoot. Well I had secretly put down as part of my goals this year to 1) network with more wedding professionals and 2) do a stylized shoot. I saw this open ended request from Khadijah as the perfect opportunity to tackle doing a mini stylized shoot. I will admit that doing a stylized shoot had me scared out of my wits and I felt like I was venturing into completely new uncharted territory. I mean questions like where to begin, how to get props, how to develop a theme, were all just making my stomach churn. But I felt like God was giving me a window, an opportunity to grow, to try something different and I needed to take advantage of it.
After seeing some posts from other photographers on how to approach a stylized shoot I started with making an easy inspiration board on Pinterest.

I then shared this with Khadijah who I will admit ran with it, and between the two of us we were able to pull together something I think was fabulous and suit her personality and business perfectly. (Also it helps that I have a huge green backyard with lots of open space and a ton of vintage and modern serve ware.)
I can’t wait to share the entire shoot with all of you but for now here is a sneak peek of Khadijah and some of her yummy creations!
